Kathy died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island, Ill.

Katherine Cecilia Blumer was born Oct. 27, 1968, in Davenport, a daughter of Thomas E. and Marian C. (Atkinson) Blumer.

Kathy graduated from Pleasant Valley High School, Class of 1987. She then attended college locally.

She had been employed at Von Maur Corporate Headquarters, Davenport, as a New Accounts Representative.

In addition to the church, Kathy was also a member of the Grief Recovery Group at Genesis Medical Center. Many years ago she had made the choice to be an Organ Donor. Through this courageous decision the family knows that a part of Kathy will live on in others to extend a stranger's life.

Kathy loved her family and was very close to her nieces and nephews. She never met a stranger and would always greet friends or strangers with a great big smile. She was talented with crafts, especially ceramics.

Memorials can be made the Iowa Donor Network or to the American Heart Association.

Survivors include her father, Thomas E. Blumer Sr., LeClaire; her fiance, Brian Knaack, LeClaire; sisters and brothers-in-law, Theresa and Barry Parris, Davenport, Christine Blumer, Dixon, Iowa, Jacque Blumer, Davenport, and Jeanne and David Farr, Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Dan Blumer, Blue Grass, Iowa; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marian C. Blumer, 2002, and brothers, David Blumer, 1994, and Thomas E. Blumer Jr., 1996. May they rest in peace.

"A special thanks to all of her friends who were so near and dear to her, she loved you all."
