Latham, Garldean 91, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2011, in Gunter, Texas. She was born Oct. 30, 1919, in Fort Worth, to John Garl Welch and Frances Lou (Bransom) Welch. She graduated from Paschal High School in 1937 and was always proud of the purple and white! She was an active member of the Church of Christ, attending congregations such as Southside in Fort Worth, Hampton Place in Oak Cliff, Abrams Road (Richardson East) in Richardson, and both South Macarthur and Belt Line Road in Irving. Other than her love for her family, her love for God was her primary motivator. She taught Bible classes and supported Christian education - particularly Dallas Christian School where all three of her children attended from Kindergarten through graduation. She was married to Martin Harrison, Roland Hebert and then Boyd Latham, the father of her children. Boyd died in 1986. Garldean, known as "Duke" by close family and others, was predeceased by her parents; her four siblings- Eldridge "Buck" Welch, Donna Katharine "Katy" Harrison, Willie Mae "Babe" Self and Clinton F. "Sonny" Welch; and her son-in- law William K. Everson. She is survived by her children Karen Dean Latham Everson, Garl Boyd Latham and John Logan Latham; her daughters-in-law Michele Kimbell Latham and Phyllis Polster Latham; her grandchildren Elaine, Andrew, Logan, Gracie and Phoebe; her great-granddaughter Kynlee; and her extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her family would like to thank the staff of Hilltop Haven for taking such good care of her. Visitation from 6:00-8:00PM Monday, March 21 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00AM Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Belt Line Road Church of Christ, 1202 N. Belt Line Rd. Irving, TX 75061, followed by graveside service at 2:30PM.
