On 18 September 1866 in Court Records of Kaufman Co., TX: Jeremiah Williams (brother of Angeline) states:"There are 3 minor children, the heirs of Lewis Netherland, dec'd., without any natural guardian." Lucy lived with the Jeremiah Williams family until her marriage to H. W. Thurston on 30 August 1876. They had three children Ella, and twins Willie and Henry William Thurston. I find no record of Henry William Thurston after his birth in Kaufman County on 30 Oct 1878. He may have died as a infant.
The 1880 U.S. Census has Lucy widowed with two of her children living next door to Jeremiah Williams' widow, Nancy, in Kaufman County, Texas. Lucy married E. S. Allen on 22 Sept. 1881 and had seven children: Elisha S., Elisha N., Fannie P., Grover C., Alven, Annie Lou, and Eula Lorene. Some have added the name May as Lucy's middle name, I have asked for any document showing that name and they never respond.
Lucy had three sets of twins and died in child birth. I received this information from a member of the Allen family.
Lucy was a direct descendent of William Carpenter, a militiaman who answered the Lexington Alarm, and fought for over three years with the Continental Army in the American Revolution.
