WAS IN JEWELRY BUSINESS HERE FOR SEVENTEEN YEARS
Funeral at the Methodist Church Wednesday

The suffering of Henry L. Wehrly, prominent in business in Garrett for seventeen years, ended with his death Sunday morning at 2 o'clock at his home, 507 South Randolph street. Mr. Wehrly had suffered from stomach trouble for eighteen years and for the last years two afflicted with ulcers. Cancer developed about a year ago.

Eight weeks ago his condition became so serious that he was compelled to take to his bed. He was removed to Fort Wayne, where he was given x-ray treatments, but it was evident that his condition was hopeless and he was returned to his home. He has steadily failed since that time. For the last three or four days he was irrational and he was unconscious for twelve hours preceding his death.

Mr. Wehrly was forty-nine years old, having been born at Salamonia, Ind., April 17, 1875. He entered the jewelry business when a young man and he moved to Garrett seventeen years ago from Milford. For many years his store has occupied a building built by the late Dr. J. F. Thomson on the east side of Randolph street between King and Quincy streets.

After the construction of the Masonic temple at Randolph and Keyser streets was started last year he leased one of the business rooms and he made plans to have one of the finest Jewelry stores in northern Indiana.

He was mortally stricken just a short time before the new room became ready for occupancy, but his plans will be carried out by his family.

Mr. Wehrly was active in local business organizations and always showed much interest in the promotion of home institutions. He was among the original stockholders of the Garrett Country club and he belonged to several Masonic organizations, including the Knights Templar and the Shrine. He also was a member of the Methodist church.

Surviving are the widow and one daughter, Juanita Dawn. The widow's maiden name was Margaret Salisbury and they were married August 23, 1896.

Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock under the auspices of the Knights Templar. The Rev. D. H. Guild officiating. Interment will be made in the mausoleum in Calvary.
