Ernest L Benson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Benson, was born in Thayer, MO., June 28, 1890. When he was still a baby his parents moved to Kansas where he grew to manhood. He was married to Annie R. Eaton on November 11, 1922 at Arco, Idaho. To this union was born four children: Two sons, William and Bernard and two daughters, Doris and Lois. He was a veteran of both Wars, having served in France in the U.S. Army in World War I and with the Army Transport in World War II. He was post Commander of the American Legion Post at Eureka and an active worker in the Red Cross. He served twenty-four years as Rural Mail Carrier serving twelve years in Wapato, WA., and twelve years at Eureka, having moved here in 1937. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, four children, William of Kennewick, WA., Bernard, Lois and Doris of Eureka; one grandson; a brother, Roy Benson of Apolis, Kansas; a sister, Mrs. Frank Reiter of Kingman, Kansas; an uncle, M.H. Benson of Calgary, Alberta; and a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He passed away at his home in Eureka January 14, 1949, at the age of 58 years, 7 months and 22 days. A military funeral was held at the Baptist Church with Rev. Lewno officiating. Burial was in the Whitefish Cemetery, Tuesday, January 18.
