Gilbert Houston Blevins of McAlester, OK died Wednesday, March 23, 2011at McAlester Regional Health Center at the age of 39. Gilbert was born July 23, 1971 to Delbert Houston and Doris Lou (Francis) Blevins in Fort Worth, Texas. Gilbert worked for Phillip Gonzales for several years as a concrete finisher. He was a hard working person and though never had children of his own, he took care of all his nieces and nephews. He is survived by his sister, Lacosta June Blevins of Ada; two aunts, Victoria Alberson of McAlester and Sherry Foster of Arkansas; nieces and nephews: Dennis Ray Leadford, Jr. of McAlester, Drew Shane Leadford of Krebs, Delbert Agustus Leanard of Fillmore, Skye Nichole Webb of Wilburton, Triston Goshen and Cassidy Goshen both of Caney. Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Doris Blevins and two sisters, Shelli Leadford and Robin Goshen. The Family will greet friends Friday, March 25, 2011 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Chaney Harkins Funeral Home, McAlester, OK. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held Noon, Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Blue Cemetery, McAlester, OK with Rev. Michael Billy officiating. Interment will follow. Pallbearers will be: Tim Baker, Donnie Snow, Mike LaFromboise, Dennis Leadford, Jr., Drew Leadford and Chris Clayton. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Phillip Gonzales, Lacey Garman and Amanda Leadford.
