Died 2 p.m. Friday, March 9, 1990, at Baton Rouge Care Center. She was a native and resident of Baton Rouge. She was a retired Baton Rouge General Medical Center employee. Visiting at Gilbert Funeral Home 1 p.m. until religious services at 8 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Charles Burris Sr. Dismissal at 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial in Stockade Cemetery . Survived by a son, James Armstead Jr., Baton Rouge; three sisters, Lela Franklin, Ophelia Bell and Georgia Foster, all of Baton Rouge;a brother-in-law, Levy Bell Sr., Baton Rouge; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Preceded in death by parents; husband, James Armstead Sr.; two brothers, and two sisters. She was a member of Greater Morning Star Baptist Church and Laboring Brothers and Sisters Benevolent Society.
