PAUL JUNIOR CALEF
---Paul Junior Calef, age 66, of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Saturday (April 15, 2006) at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa.
---Born August 1, 1939 in Gibbs, Missouri he was the son of Paul and Erma (Ziegler) Calef. On July 22, 1989 in La Plata, Missouri he married Susan Shaffer who survives.
---Also surviving is one son, J.R. Calef and his fiance, Trisha of Quincy, Illinois; one daughter, Samantha Calef of La Plata, Missouri; two brothers, Bob Calef of La Plata, Missouri and LaVerne Calef of Goodyear, Arizona; one sister, Evelyn Wellborn of Kirksville, Missouri; four grandchildren Anna, Steven, Gavin, and Felicia; and several nieces and nephews.
---He was preceded in death by his parents.
---Paul lived most all his life in Adair and Macon counties. He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964. He moved to La Plata, Missouri in 1970 where he was an independent trucker until becoming disabled in 1992. Paul enjoyed duck hunting and being outside. He was deeply devoted family man that loved his wife, children and grandchildren with all of his heart. He was a member of the La Plata Christian Church where he had served as a deacon.
---Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday (April 19) 2006) at the La Plata Christian Church. Officiatiing will be the Reverend Jerry Briscoe. Music will be provided by Organist Rosanne Briscoe and soloist Melvin Bissy. Musical selections will be "Just As I Am" and "Precious Memories".
---Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Oscar Shaffer, Gary Moyer, J.R. Calef, LaVerne Calef, Don Miller, and Ivan Clarkson. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Wilken, Kendall Williams and Phillip Rick.
---Visitation will be Tuesday (April 18, 2006) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Travis Funeral Chapel, La Plata, Missouri.
