In 1860, Moses was a 32-year-old farmer, Catharine was 34, and they had three kids at home: Levina, 12, Samuel, 10, and Malinda, 4. After Catharine's death in 1865, Moses needed help raising Malinda, so he immediately married again.
Lavina married Jacob Longacre in 1867 and moved to California, Samuel married Alice Snavely in 1873 and moved to Kansas, and Malinda "Linnah" married Luther Frase in 1875 and moved to Indianapolis.
