80-year-old Carmi resident, Robert M. Abbey died Monday, March 21 at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville. He was a retired oil well driller.
The son of Herschel Cyrus Abbey and Mabel Cula Young
Survivors include two sons, Harold D. Abbey of Carmi and Kevin D. Abbey of Las Vegas, NV; a daughter, Rhonda Knight of Carmi; two brothers, Guy L. Abbey of Enfield and Marvin Abbey of Herrin; a sister, Della May Colson of Lehigh Acres, FL; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Billie (Brewer) Abbey; and two daughters, Kandy Kay Abbey and Susan L. Simer. and siblings Virgil, John, Herschel "Joe", Dorothy Rose, Wayne and James M "Jim Abbey
Services for Robert M. Abbey will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 24 at the Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi with burial in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Thursday, March 24 until the time of the service at the Cook Chapel in Carmi.
Memorials may be made to the White County Senior Citizens and will be accepted at the Cook Chapel in Carmi.
