Margaret McKenzie was born on September 15, 1904 in Jackson County, Ohio. She was the 6th and last child of Joseph and Sarah (Caldwell) McKenzie.

She received a basic education and was able to read and write by age 13.

She married William Henry, son of Perry and Nora (Antis) Henry, on October 27, 1920 in Jackson County, Ohio.

Together Margaret and William had four children: Elroy (1922-1988), Frances Marie (1923-2008), Morgan (1925-1984) and Lucy Jane (1929-2009).

Her husband didn't want any daughters and therefore didn't want Frances and Lucy. Frances went to live with Margaret's sister and brother-in-law, John and Mary (McKenzie) Allen. Lucy went to live Margaret's parents, Joseph and Sarah (Caldwell) McKenzie.

A chain of terrible events started in 1936.

In May her husband of 15 years got drunk and stumbled onto some train tracks. The train came by and amputated both of his legs. He hemorrhaged to death soon after, leaving her to raise their sons.

Later that year, in September, her 71 year old father died of Dropsy. Thus leaving Sarah to raise Lucy.

In July 1937 Margaret's 35 year old brother, Joseph McKenzie, died of Pulmonary Tuberculosis, leaving behind his wife of 10 years.

A year later, in 1938, Margaret contracted Typhoid fever. After a period of illness from it, she died on August 20, 1938 at General Hospital in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio. This was the same hospital that her husband died at 2 years earlier.

Only 33 years old, she left behind four children, to be raised by other family members.
