Helena R. Burton, 92, of Harvard, died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at Mercy Harvard Hospital. She was born Aug. 24, 1918, in New Hampton, Iowa, to Albert and Ida (Deetz) Wickman. She married Seymour E. Burton on Jan. 25, 1943, in Harvard. He preceded her in death Oct. 2, 1968. She graduated from high school and college, and then taught in a one-room schoolhouse before moving to Harvard. She had worked for Admiral/Rockwell Corp. in Harvard for 26 years and had worked at Lake's and on the family farm. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvard, its Lydia Circle and White Oak Birthday Club. She was a former member of Harvard Women of the Moose and Harvard Grange. She is survived by four children; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a step great-grandchild; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, James Burton; and two great-grandchildren. The visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 25, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 E. Diggins St., Harvard. The Rev. Herb D. Priester will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Harvard.
