He was born November 17, 1888, in Bay City, Michigan the son of Louis and Anna Moritz. He was married to Ada McAdam who died in 1949. In 1958 he was married to Nola McElroy Free, who survives.
He is also survived by daughters Ruth Best and Dee Sargent; sons, Don and George; a sister, Miss Bertha Moritz; a brother, Earnest; eleven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
A son, Charles, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at Centenary United Methodist Church with burial in Oakridge Cemetery.
