Dr. Alfred B. Coyner, 93, a retired Lafayette physician, died at 1:20 p.m. Saturday in his home at Route 1, Clarks Hill. He had been in ill health several years.
A well-known physician and surgeon, Dr. Coyner had practiced here 57 years, retiring in 1974.
Born and reared near Clarks Hill, he had spent all of his life in the West Lafayette-Clarks Hill area. He received his M.D. degree from Indiana University. On March 15, 1915, he was married,in Indianapolis, to Jean M. Milligan. She died in 1963.
A world War I veteran, he served in the Army Medical Corps. He was a member of Indiana State Medical Association.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Virginia) Crawford of Route 4, Crawfordsville and Mrs. Cyrus (Jean Ann) Crum of Oklahoma City, Okla; and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Childs and Mrs. Ruth Moore, both of Indianapolis.
There will be no visitation at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Service in Christian Church, Clarks Hill, 2 p.m. Tuesday, David A. Ashbaugh officiating. Interment Clarks Hill Cemetery. Surviving are five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends may best express sympathy by contributing in memoriam to St. Elizabeth Hospital.
