Private family graveside services for former McMinnville resident Inez Carnes Glentzer of Beaverton are planned in McMinnville's Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Glentzer died at home on Sunday, March 13, 2005. She was 97.
Born on Sept. 24, 1907, in Twin Falls, Idaho, she was the daughter of William Joseph and Sarah Inez (Ramsey) Smith. She was raised and educated in Murray, Utah. After graduating from the University of Utah, she worked as a dietitian.
She moved to McMinnville in 1937 and married Samuel Carnes in 1938 in Vancouver, Wash. Together they owned and operated Economy Cleaners.
After he died in 1963, she continued on with the business until her retirement in 1972.
On Jan. 8,1977, she married Ira Glentzer in McMinnville. He died in 1992.
She moved to a care home in Beaverton in 1999 to be near her daughter. She was a member of Business and Professional Women, the Yamhill County Historical Society and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
After her children were raised, she let Linfield College students share her home to help them get through school. She loved to garden and attend garage sales.
She is survived by three daughters, Iniece Grover of Portland, Joyce Taylor of Bend and Jean Bergen of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother, George Smith of Seattle; two sisters, Elaine Broers of Oregon City and Mary Pierce of Portland; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
