Alfred owned Bonner Grocery store in Carrollton, GA for many years and later owned a furniture store and a used car business.
When he first came to Carroll County, he was principal at 3 schools; Lowell, Little Tallapoosa on Tyus Road and the third I don't know. Ruth was teaching at the Lowell School. Alfred said that he thought she was the prettiest and happiest girl he had ever seen. Ruth said she only went out with him on their first date because he was the only man she knew that had a car and she wanted to ride in it.
