Mrs. Percy Cook -

Mrs. Belle Elva Cook, prominent Wolfville resident and active community and church worker, died suddenly at her home following a heart attack. Born in Oakland, Lunenburg county, 71 years ago, for a number of years before her marriage she worked at the Wolfville Seminary. In 1915 she married Percy Cook. Mrs. Cook was a member of the Wolfville Baptist Church and Women's Missionary Society. Left to mourn her passing besides her husband are two sons; Otis and Carl, Montreal; two grandsons, Gary Cook with the CNR head office, Montreal; Bobby, Montreal; two sisters, Mary (Mrs. Frank Millett), Dorchester, Mass., Evelene (Mrs. Harry Williams), Halifax; one brother, Wesley Smeltzer of White Rock, B.C.; four step sisters, Mrs. Irva Dexter, Mrs. Vera Graham and Berdie Delong of Halifax. Mrs. Rachie Woodworth, Colorado Springs, and one step-brother, Gordon Delong, Seattle, Wash.

Note: Her late birth registration, gives her date of birth as 09 December 1888, as Belva Elva Smeltzer, daughter of Samuel Smeltzer and Sarah Stevens. Her marriage in 1915 lists her as Belle Elva Smeltzer.
