Mr. Milton Judd, who resided in the suburbs of Columbia, died last Friday afternoon. He had been a sufferer for more than thirty years, but until fifteen months ago he was able to be about town.

He was a soldier in the Federal army, and while in battle, one of his arms was shattered by a piece of a bomb-shell. The arm was not amputated until two years ago, and shortly after the operation his general health commenced failing, the decline, however, was not attributed to the removing of the fractured arm.

The deceased was sixty-three years old, a member of the Christian Church and a good citizen. He is survived by the companion of his bosom and ten children. Religious services were held at the residence Saturday forenoon and the remains interred in the family buryground. The sympathy of this community goes out to the afflicted family.

Milton was the son of William Harrison Judd and Elizabeth Unknown and was married to Sarah C. Floyd on Dec 7, 1865 in Adair Co., KY he and Sarah had 11 children as follows:

NOTES from Roberta Dooley:
1) Martha "MATTIE" Judd born 1866 married Robert F. Holt 2/14/1898
2) Mary "MOLLIE" Judd born May 2, 1870 married Charlie Alvin Hawkins Sept 12, 1908 and she died Aug 24, 1955 (she was my great grandma)
3) Milton Frank Judd born April 1872 married Minnie Vaughn Mar 4, 1897 and died Nov 18, 1934
4) Dollie Judd born April 13, 1874
5) William Judd born 1876
6) Ellie Judd born 1878
7) Gertrude "GERTIE" Judd born Oct 1881
8) Laura Darnell "NELL" Judd born July 1885
9) Fannie Judd born May 1888
10) Charles Judd born March 1890
11) Fred Judd born Aug 1893

All of these children were born in Columbia, Adair Co., KY. Rumors have it that the Family Burying Grounds was behind the Walmart in Columbia and when they built the Walmart they dug some graves up but no legal action was ever taken to move the graves to another location. An old man that lived next to the what is now Walmart remembered Milton having a large old monument for a headstone, he said he could look out his window and see Milton's grave but of course now it is the back driveway to the Walmart plaza for delivery trucks.... The home place was behind Walmart and is all grown up or it was several years ago, I beleive they have built houses or apts in there now but there is still a field behind the Walmart and that is what is suppose to be the old home place or part of it.
