January 1, 1931-February 16, 2009 Richard V. Kudla, 78, of Brownington passed away in Newport on Monday, February 16, 2009. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years Rose Dubois Kudla on February 4, 2009. Richard was born on January 1, 1931 in Chicopee, Mass the son of Victor and Stella ( Gralinski ) Kudla. Richard and Rose spent many years in the Springfield and Chicopee area before moving to Vermont about fifteen years ago after he retired from the Chicopee Parks Department. They both loved the beauty,peace and quiet of the outdoors that Vermont provided. Mr. Kudla particulary enjoyed going fishing, hunting, and gardening with Rose. He is survived by his children: Richard Kudla and his wife Donna of Tenn, John Kudla and his wife Linda of Brownington, and Kathleen Rybak and her husband David of New Jersey and by several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Thomas Kudla and his wife JoAnn of Mass, a sister Shirley Castolidi of Fla., and a sister-in-law JoAnn Grenier and her husband Ray of Mass. And by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers: Ralph Kudla and his wife Fran, and Robert Kudla and by a brother-in-law John Castoldi.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Orleans with the Rev. Sixmund Nyabenda officiating. Spring interment will take place in the Brownington Village Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday February 18, 2009 at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road, Newport. Should friends desire, contributions in his memory may be made to the St. Theresa's Catholic Church Maintenance Fund, 85 St. Paul Lane, Barton, Vt. 05822.
