Pfc. Kalin C. Johnson, 19, of Lexington, S.C., died March 8 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained in a non-combat incident. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany. Kalin was the son of Brenton Christopher Johnson and Ronda Kay Johnson of Lexington. He is survived by his parents; brother, Noah Buddy Colin Johnson; and sister, Brittany Rose Johnson; infant son, Logan Tyler Johnson and Logan's mother, Courtney Waits of Lexington who was the love of his life; grandparents, Ron and Carol Young of Chapin, Chris Johnson of Columbia, Bob and Susan Cooper of Lexington; great-grandmother, Betty Mack Johnson of Columbia; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Kalin was predeceased by his brother, Coby Tyler Johnson, his grandmother, "Graham Cracker" Carleen Fay Young, and his great-grandmother, Lucy Bell Watts.
