Evelyn Hatch Belnap, 97, of Moreland, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 at her home.

She was born June 2, 1913 in Moreland, Idaho, the daughter of Abram Miles and Lola Eva Hatch. Her early childhood was spent in Arbon Valley and Robin, Idaho. In 1923 the Hatch family moved back to Moreland.

She completed high school in Moreland and then attended Ricks College for a short time. She became a very good vocal soloist, performing in school and in church.

On April 4, 1934, she married Harold Elias Belnap in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a choir member and worked in the Primary for many years. She served with Harold on a Stake Mission and on a Senior Couple Mission in the Portland, Oregon Mission. She served as a temple worker in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for 16 years.

In addition to homemaking, she helped with farm work from 1936 to 1954 on a farm in Riverside and after that on a farm west of Moreland until Harold's retirement from farming. She also worked with Harold in the interior-exterior house painting business for a number of years.

She especially enjoyed caring for her grandchildren. One great enjoyment, along with Harold, was adorning their yard with many, many beautiful flowers.

She is survived by her brother, Bert, of Salmon, ID; two sons, Harold Lynn (Sharon)Belnap, of North Logan, UT, and Oliver Miles (Camille) Belnap, of Moreland; 18 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dean Hatch Belnap; husband, Harold; three brothers, Russell, Jack and Ralph; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011at the Moreland 5th Ward LDS Chapel, with Bishop Robert Wray conducting. The family will meet with friends from 10:00-10:45 prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be in the Moreland Cemetery under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho.

The family would like to thank Blackfoot Home Health and Hospice for their services.
