Robert V. Dinkel
Robert V. Dinkel, 78, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John Hagberg officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8:30 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home.

Mr. Dinkel was born June 14, 1920, in Sioux City, the son of Otto Valentine and Lena Helene (Winter) Dinkel. He was raised in Sioux City and attended Sioux City Public Schools. He served in the Armed Forces during World War II.

He married Betty J. Elliot on Nov. 1, 1943, in Kennett, Mo. He was employed with Aalfs Manufacturing, retiring in 1985.

He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Robert and Jennifer of Jefferson, S.D.; a daughter and her husband, Gloria and David Hawkins of Sioux City; two sisters, Lois Choquette and Betty Johnson, both of Sioux City; a brother, Glenn of Sioux City; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Gary.

Pallbearers will be Tim and Rob Dinkel, Todd Rowe, Ron and Mike Choquette and Steve Johnson.
