Harold W. Stephens, 81, of 133 JPM Road, Lewisburg, died Friday afternoon, May 28, 2010, at River Woods, surrounded by friends. Born July 29, 1928, in Mifflinburg, he was a son of the late Alton Wade and Corene Young (Hommel) Stephens.

A 1946 graduate of Mifflinburg High School, he had served with the Army in Germany for 13 months during the Korean Conflict.

A security captain, he was a security officer for many manufacturing plants and warehouses, among them Philco-Ford, Zenith, ACF, Securitas Security Services of Muncy and retired from Super Rite Foods, Harrisburg, in 1991. He also served as a part-time officer with the Watsontown Police Department.

Mr. Stephens was a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1396, Mifflinburg; a life member of the Warrior Run Area Fire Department; and belonged to the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy Lee and Maurice E. Edinger Jr. of White Deer and Barbara Jo and Robert Scutt of Mountain Top; and three granddaughters, Anna, Alyssa and Amy Scutt.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg, with the Rev. Kenneth J. Steckel officiating.

Burial will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

The family will provide flowers and asks that donations in his memory be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
