Ruby Ambroe, 85, of Lompoc, Calif., passed away Saturday (March 5, 2005) at her home where she had lived for the past 45 years.
Ruby was born on March 2, 1920 in Pound, and was the eldest child of the late Willard Francis and Lillie Victoria Bolling Hubbard. She was retired from the Lompoc Hospital District where she was employed for 25 years in food service. She was an active member of the Lompoc Grange and the Valley of the Flowers Half Century Club where she leaves behind many bingo playing friends.
Ruby's husband of 51 years, Evan Ambroe preceded her in death in 1996. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James F. Hubbard and sister, Anita Marshall of Virginia.
Survivors include sons, Bob of Pound and Leonard and wife, Mary of Golden Valley, Minn.; grandsons, Mark and Stephen Ambroe, both of Minnesota; sisters, Ruth Meade of Wise, Hattie Mullins of Michigan City, Ind. and June Ellis and Ollie Jane Ellis, both of Jenkins, Ky.; brothers, Howard and Ralph Hubbard, both of Pound; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and special family friends, Rose, Ron and Michael Reid and Debra Bazzi-Craig, all of Lompoc.
Christian burial servcies were held Thursday, March 10, at LaPurisima Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Fahey officciating. Burial followed at Lompoc Cemetery.
Starbuck-Lind Mortuary of Lompoc was in charge of arrangements.
