The 1900 Washington TS, Dade County, MO Census lists David C Reich, 42, and wife Kissie A, 40, married 17 years, with children: Pinnie D, 15, born July 1884; Maggie, 13, born July 1886; Amanda L, 11, born January, 1889; Minnie, 9, born January, 1891 and Susie, 5, born February, 1895, in Kansas. After Kissie's death in 1905 her husband David ordered a gravestone for $25. The stone was never received and the family always wondered what happened to it. In 1908 David moved the family to Oklahoma. He didn't return to Dade County until the 1930's when he came back to live with his daughter Maggie Mammen. About 1980 the granddaughters were concerned that their grandparents graves were not marked and they ordered a stone for them.

In the 1950's Arthur Rogers grew up on a farm near Miller, MO that had a gravestone in the barn where he played. The name on it was "Kissie A Reich." The family asked around, but no one knew the name. While attending church at Golden City about 1980, Roger heard the name Reich mentioned. He told the woman about the gravestone and discovered she was Kissie's granddaughter who had just ordered a stone!

Roger thinks the tombstone may have been delivered at the farm home years ago with some Carthage stone pillars for the house and accidently left it behind, as they are of the same stone. Finally, Kissie' original gravestone was placed at her grave site where is remains today.
