Homer—William Max Astell, 66, of near Homer was found dead in the feed lot on his farm about 3 miles southeast of Homer Feb. 2, according to Champaign County Coroner Don Wikoff, who conducted an inquiry into his death which he said resulted from a heart attack. A neighbor, Melvin Place, discovered his body.
Born Aug. 27, 1894, near Homer he was the son of John and Maia Jane Blair Astell. He was a member of the Homer Masonic Lodge, the Homer American Legion and the Homer Presbyterian Church.
Only immediate survivor is a brother, Dr. Louis A. Astell, who was vacationing in Florida.
Rev. Don Browning of the Homer Presbyterian Church officiated at the serve held in Broadlands and burial was in Fairfield Cemetery.
