Sgt. Ray Adler

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Congregational church for Sgt. Ray Adler, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Adler, who died of battle wounds on Nov. 25, 1944, in an Army hospital in Belgium. Mr. Adler's wife, Mrs. Beatrice Russell Adler, resides at 530 Chimera court. The Rev. Frank T. Jenson, pastor of the church, will officiate and burial will be in Riverview cemetery. The body will arrive at the Chesapeake and Ohio railroad station in St. Joseph at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday. Sgt. Adler was active in local affairs, having served on the Berrien county board of supervisors from St. Joseph. He was a soloist with the First Congregational choir and well know among musical circles in the twin cities. He was also a popular member of the St. Joseph Elks club. Mr. Adler entered service in February of 1944 and served with the Infantry. He went overseas in August of 1944. At the time of his death he was 32 years of age. Surviving with his widow are two children, Russel and Janice Rae. (The News-Palladium, Benton Harbor, MI, Monday, March 28, 1949, p. 11, Col. 5)
