William General Clampett, my 3rd Great Grandfather, married Sarah Jane M (Mary?) Hight. They had two children that I know of, they are:

He enlisted in the 8th Kansas Volunteer Infantry on 14 October 1861. Assigned to Company D, He was mustered out on 18 October 1861 from Fort Lawrance, Kansas.

William General Clampett was killed in action at The Battle of Chicamauga, Georgia, on Sept. 19, 1863. He had a brother in law, John Trimble Brown, who also served in Co D of the 8th Kansas Infantry but was discharged in 1862 because of poor health. John Trimble's brother, Joshua Pilcher Brown, also served in Co D of the 8th.
