Bernell Ronald Betts, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Betts was born on February 11, 1921 in Winter Quarters, Utah. He graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1940, and attended the University of Utah. A World War II veteran, he entered military service at Los Angeles, California in 1942 in the U.S. Army Air Forces, and subsequently served in the European Theater of Operations as a Radio and Morse Code Operator until his discharge in 1945.

Mr. Betts spent a career as a Telephone Communications Engineer with the Western Electric Company (now Lucent Technologies) from 1946 until his retirement in 1984.

Family

He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Jennie Evanna Betts, and two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his sons, Bruce L. (Laura) Betts, from Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Corey R. (Debra) Betts, from Spring, Texas as well as five grandchildren.

Service Information

A viewing will be on Thursday between 3:00pm - 6:00pm at Fairmount Mortuary. Funeral services and interment for Mr. Betts will held at 11A.M. on Friday, March 4, 2011, at Fairmount Mortuary and Cemetery, 430 S. Quebec St., Denver, Colorado.

A reception following the committal service will be held at Mr. Betts's home at 2760 South Ogden Street, Englewood, CO 80113
