From Wesley Taylor Fobbs' notes: French Taylor was born April 21, 1852 [sic], born a slave under Mr Wright Taylor. He stated he moved to the Hall's Community in 1875, along with seven other families, Flinn Warfield, Alf Warfield, the Hunter Bros, Amos and Andy, Bob Demby and Millie Louis. By moving there, they did not have any place to bury their dead, since the grave yard they were custom to burying their dead in was over on the Rayford Rd, across The Little Elkhart Creek, it was called The Taylor Graveyard. The men called a meeting and agreed for French Taylor, Flinn Warfield and Bob Demby would go talk to Mr CC [sic] Hall who owned the land, to see about getting a place to bury their dead. Mr Hall gave them the privelage to bury their dead in the grave yard where the white people were buried, so whites and blacks are buried in the same cemetery. Her father told her, they were several graves just marked by rocks. From the information given me by my father at this time, the oldest grave is about 125 years old. Mr CC Hall's [sic] home is on the left down the hill from the graveyard.
