Maynard Norman Rutherford, age 89, of Murfreesboro passed away Friday, June 13, 2008 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native of Chattanooga, Tenn., he had lived in Murfreesboro since 1986. He was a supervisor with the Federal Government. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Navy and received the Purple Heart; and he was Mason. He was also a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Mr. Rutherford was preceded in death by his parents, John Marian and Camille Saddler Rutherford. He is survived by his wife, Jennietta Mofield Rutherford of Murfreesboro; son, Phillip Norman Rutherford of Clarksville; daughters, Rebecca Adelyn Rutherford of Murfreesboro and Diana Carole of Virginia; grandchildren, Katrina Adelyn Stone, Kellee Noel Johnston and Paul Norman Rutherford; and great-grandchildren, Jordan Rutherford and Maya Adelyn Stone.

Funeral services for Mr. Rutherford will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Jennings & Ayers Chapel with the Rev. Bob Niles and the Rev. Joe Elliott officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2008 in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Jennings & Ayers, 820 S. Church St., Murfreesboro, TN, 615-893-2422.
