LA GRANGE -- Judge Andrew Willis Birdsong Jr., 73, died June 6 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

He was a native of La Grange and was appointed to the Georgia State Court of Appeals in 1977 by then-Gov. George Busbee.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Elizabeth Cliatt Birdsong of La Grange; three daughters, Nancy B. Whitford of Augusta, Elizabeth B. Vann of Bluffton, and Katherine B. Candler of Atlanta; and four grandchildren, Gary M. Whitford Jr., Andrew W. Vann, Sarah E. Vann, and John S. Candler III.

FUNERAL: 4 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church on the Square in La Grange, burial will be private.

Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, La Grange Chapel.
