Ronald graduated from the Buckhannon-Upshur High School in 1965 and had enlisted in the Marines under 120 delay program.
Ronald arrived in Vietnam and was assigned to the 2nd Platoon of India Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regimnet, 1st Marine Division. Ronald died as a result of multiple fragmentation wounds to the body from a
hostile explosive device, when the 2nd Platoon encountered hostile forces, at Razorback Ridge (Hill 36), 12 kilometers west of Cam Lo while
participating in Operation Hastings.
Ronald had a girlfriend by the name of Sherry Watts that wrote several letters to him while he was in Vietnam. Bridge #49-16-9.04 on County Route 16, at mile marker 9.04 in his hometown was named the "Ronald Lee Fenstermacher Memorial Bridge" to honor him.
Tour of duty unknown.
Survived by his parents, Richard J and Kathleen L Fenstermacher and his brother; Richard Alan all of Buckhannon, West Virginia.
