Mrs. Marie Ahlborn, nee Koehrs, was born Aug. 23, 1851 in Ebsdorf, Germany. She was joined in matrimony to Mr. Fred Ahlborn, May 5, 1877. They came to this country in 1889 and settled in Bensenville. The union was blessed with 5 children; 3 sons and 2 daughters; one son died at the age of one year. April 29, 1918 her husband was taken away by an accident, since then Mother Ahlborn has made her home with her oldest son, Fred Ahlborn in Bensenville. Years ago she was in feeble health but the last years enjoyed fairly good health. Sept. 4, she took sick and was in bed until Wednesday, Oct. 20, when she passed peacefully away aged 75 years 1 month and 27 days.
She leaves to mourn 2 sons, Fred and Henry Ahlborn, 2 daughters, Mrs. Anna Benninger and Mrs. Meta Burmeister, also 2 sons-in-law and 2 daughters-in-law, four grand children and other relatives and friends.
She was laid to rest by the side of her husband in Friedens cemetery. Funeral service was held Sunday afternoon at Friedens church, Rev. H. Wagner spoke words of comfort based on Psalm 4:8, "I lay me down in peace and sleep, for thou, Lord, only makest me to dwell in safety."
