Actor. Born Garrett Atwater in Denver, Colorado, he was head master of the UCLA sound department before he began his acting career. While teaching audio techniques he excepted a role in the student film "A Time out of War", which was awarded the Oscar for best short film of 1954. He began appearing often in TV episodes and soon had a flourishing career performing lead and supporting roles on most of television's best series shows. In the mid-1960s, he spent three years on the soap opera "General Hospital" in the role of G.B. Atwater, but was best remembered for his billings as Surak on "Star Trek" and as vampire Janos Skorzeny on "The Night Stalker". His other TV credits included "One Step Beyond", "The Twilight Zone", "The Outer Limits", "The Wild Wild West, "Kung Fu", "Man from U.N.C.L.E." and "Night Gallery". His final TV role was as a gun fence Roach on the "Rockford Files" shortly before his death in Los Angeles, California.
