PIERRE THEROUX (1843-1918) married 19 year old EUGENIE MARIE CARDIN on September 29, 1863 in the St. Michel section of Yamaska, Quebec, Canada. She died on December 9, 1887 at the age of 43 under horrifying circumstances. She and her infant son JOSEPH LOUIS EUGENE were upstairs when the family home in the village of St. Victoire caught fire. With her husband and children outside and helplessly watching, EUGENIE dropped the baby to her family below and then perished in the flames.
Oddly enough, PIERRE and EUGENIE not only named their first son after one of them (PIERRE), they gave two of their daughters the exact same name -- their mother's middle name (MARIE). And then, just to make things even more confusing, they gave the exact same name (JOSEPH) to FOUR of their sons)! The kids, in order, were:
