MORAN, KS - Nellie Catherine Brower, 88, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000 at her home in Moran, Kansas.

She was born Oct. 23, 1911 in Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Dan and Laura (Hodgden) Bower.

She graduated from Chanute High School.

On Feb. 11, 1934 she married Roy Brower in Parsons, Kansas. He preceded her in death April 16, 1970.

They lived on different oil leases in the Moran and Bronson, KS areas, moving, to Moran in April 1944 from Chanute.

She was working at the present time as one of the ladies that answered the telephone for the Johnson-Kunkel Funeral Home in Moran. She had worked there since Jan. 1, 1982. Before that she had worked for the Moran Grocery Store 17 years and the Moran Dry Good store five years.

She was a member of the Moran United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her two sons, Ronald Lee Brower, Farlington, KS, and Tom Brower, Greensburg, KS; two brothers, Emmett and Fred Bower, both of Chanute, KS; one sister, Ellen Knock, Chanute, KS; five grandchildren; and one great grandson.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dan, Jr. and Hugh Bower; two sisters, Arletta (Bower) Hanson, and Golda May Bower in infancy; and one grandson, David Brower.

Graveside services, led by Pastor Fred Darbonne, will be Friday, March 31, 2000 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute, KS.
