Carl R. Ferries was the only child of Florence R. Bailey and John T. Ferries, both immigrants from England. After the early death of his mother, Carl was raised by his Grandfather, Richard Bailey and Aunt, Edith Bailey, of Melrose Park, IL. Carl was a WWI Veteran, a commercial photographer and loving husband and father of my grandmother's family.

On August 20, 1919 Carl married Sylvia M. Riley of Maryland and they had 3 children:
Marcelyn Jewel Ferries Melody (29 Mar 1921 - 29 Jan 1994)
Mary Jane Ferries Peterson (b. ? - d. ?)
John 'Jack' Richard Ferries (25 Jan 1924 - 19 Apr 2009)

Carl Ferries of 719 North 18th Avenue, Maywood, died March 9, beloved husband of Sylvia (nee Riley), fond father of Marcelyn, Lt. Jack, U.S.A.A.F., and Mary Jane. Funeral Services were at 2 p.m., Monday, March 12, at Senne Funeral Home. Interment Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Rev. J.H. Bailey officiated.
