He was born February 2, 1930 in Indianapolis to Harry E. And Katherine Wenz. In 1948 he graduated from Western Military Academy in Alton, IL, where he was affectionately known as "Big Harry", and shortly thereafter married Dorothy Kersey. They had four children together.

Harry's work in food packaging sales with General Food Container and later, Dart Industries, took him all over the country. After he and Dorothy divorced, he lived in Phoenix for several years where he excelled in real estate sales with the Tom Fannin agency.

In the late 1970's, Harry contracted valley fever and was advised by his doctor to leave Phoenix. He returned to Indianapolis and shortly thereafter met and married Cindy Neeley. They enjoyed 32 years of marriage, during which time Harry continued his sales career in food packaging, real estate and replacement windows and doors until his retirement in 2004.

Prior to his illness, he enjoyed attending Indianapolis Indians games, going to the theatre and dining out with family and friends. He and Cindy were avid travelers and especially enjoyed their multiple visits to Ixtapa, Mexico.

Harry will be remembered as a gentle giant who never met a stranger. In addition to his wife, Harry is survived by his daughters, Jane Wainscott and Elizabeth Malloy, both of Speedway; sons, David Wenz of Phoenix and Robert Wenz of Pensacola; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother, Gerry Wenz; and step-brothers, David Gulling and Nick Gulling. He will also be missed by his mother-in-law, Shirley Neeley; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Stacey and Donnie Jones and Jason and Karen Neeley; breakfast buddy, Don Romberg; and his cat, Sparky.
