Mrs. Carrie Gay Burt, 95, widow of Frank E. Burt, died Sunday afternoon at her residence in Westminster Village. She was born in Ridgeville and attended Ridgeville schools prior to coming to Muncie with her parents, John W. and Mary Alice (Kitselman) Smith in 1900.

Mrs. Burt was a 75-year member of First United Presbyterian Church and for more than 40 years was chairman of the annual Christmas bazaar of the church. She was also a member of Alpha Chapter of Psi Iota Xi sorority and was formerly a member of the Day Nursery board.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Leighton (Ethelyn) Bayless and Mrs. Arthur (Agnes) Rettig, both of Muncie; a brother, Earl F. Smith, Muncie; and several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Jerry Driscoll, West Lafayette, Mrs. Robert Tyner, Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Phillip Bayless, Wilmington, Ohio, Dr. Arthur Rettig, Indianapolis, Mrs. James Wingate, Mrs. James Dewar, John W. Smith, and Tom Ryan, all of Muncie.

Services will be held at First United Presbyterian Church at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday with Dr. Laurance A. Martin officiating. Entombment will follow in the family mausoleum in Beech Grove. There will be no calling hours. Memorials may be sent to First United Presbyterian Church or to any charity of the donor's choice. The Meeks Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
