Son of Captain Nathaniel Webber and his wife Sarah Frances Mayer of London, England. His children were: Benjamin, Emma, Albert, Edward, Adalda, and Charles and his wife was Nancy Sammis.

He was the first white child in China, on one of the voyages with his father and mother.

Was an officer on the US Naval ironclad Monitor during the Civil War. His grave as well as all the others in the Snug Harbor graveyard were removed, but some were saved in the museum. The grave remain unmarked.
