Inside Chapel Services were held this afternoon in the West Side District Cemetery for long-time Kern County resident Virgil "Pete" Abney 76.
Mr. Abney was born on May 24, 1920, in Wetumpka, Oklahoma and passed away February 11, 1996, in Bakersfield after a brief illness.
He made Kern County his home in 1941 and worked in the oil fields in the Taft area.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Margret Abney. His survivors include his sons and their wives, his grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
