Ernie grew up in South Baltimore, Lotus Point and later moved to the Brooklyn Park area. He loved to dance and listen to German Music. He retired from Maryland Drydock in the 60's. He loved his family and was a friend to everyone. He especially loved his grandchildren and took them on trips. He was very proud of his German Heritage and spoke a little german. He was very close to his brothers and sisters and their children. He used to give the neighborhood children money to go bowling or whatever they needed, he loved them and they all called him Uncle Ernie. He taught us all about patience:"If a string is in a knott, patience will untie it." He taught us all how to polka and dance to a waltz. He loved going to shows and took his granddaughters, Karen & Helen to see Shirley Jones and Christopher Plummer in "The Sound of Music" at the Painters Mill Threatre. He had a great love for the water and boats. He could build or fix anything. He was truly loved and missed. Granddaughter, Karen Abend-Dungan
