He was a son to Jonathan Greene (1760-1840) and Catharine White (1766-1843). On 9 Sep 1817, he married Mary Goodsell of Oswego Co., NY at Choconut, Susquehanna, PA. He was a member of the state General Assembly in 1830/31 for Swanton, Franklin, VT before moving west to Ohio. Was the proprietor of a steam flouring mill at Fort Recovery, Ohio, and did a large business before his early death. They had at least 6 children (Catherine Patience, Rev. Orrin Spencer, Charles, Jane, Emily and Harriet Elizabeth).
