Leonard was the son of William Edgar Mounts and Mary Elizabeth (Stallings) Mounts. William and Mary married July 27, 1901 in Posey County, IN and had 9 children, Alma Geraldine, Juna Myrtle Virginia, Leonard Lemuel "Buck", Nina Adell, William Ezra, Malcolm Edward "Mac", Marjorie Eloise, Deloris Nadine and Manford Eugene "Mutt" Mounts. Nina died at the age of 2 1/2 years. The rest of the children lived to adulthood.
Leonard's first wife was Opal Boyle. She died in childbirth and the baby boy was stillborn. They were buried together in the same grave. On the grave marker it only lists her, Opal Boyle Mounts and below that, Infant Son. She was born March 6, 1909 and died at the age of 16 on January 22, 1925.
Leonard then married Artie Pearl Fuller on August 12, 1926 in Wabash Co., IL. They had 4 children, Norma Lee, Gordon Dale, Phyllis Ann and Donna Gail Mounts. Norma was stillborn. The other 3 children lived to adulthood.

Surviving are a son, Gordon of Summit, N.J.; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Sullivan of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Harry Mathers of Joliet, Ill.; and six grandchildren.
