Chas. Dayton Passes After Long Illness
Beloved Citizen Answers Final Summons at 1:30 A. M. Today

The passing of Charles Dayton, at his home on North Eighth street early Thursday morning, Sept. 6, brought sorrow to his legion of friends in this city.

He was a barber by trade and followed in that line of work since coming to Estherville in 1901.

He was an honored member of the Knights of Pythias lodge, having been at the head of the local organization for several years and was district inspector for this district for a number of terms.

He was a Christian gentleman of exemplary habits, generous to a fault, and a devoted husband.

He was born in Mechanicsville, Iowa, Aug. 10, 1862 and hence was a little past 72 years of age at his passing. In October, 1902 he was united in marriage to Maude Hudson of this city who survives him. Two sisters and four brothers are also living and a daughter Ruth of Estherville.

The funeral is to be held from the M. E. church in Estherville Sunday at 2:30 p. m. and interment made in Oak Hill cemetery. (Vindicator And Republican, Estherville, IA, September 6, 1934)
