The 30th was organized in October 1861. Co I came from Clayton Co. and was called the Clayton Invincibles. Battles: Vicksburg, Jackson, Chattanooga, Chickamauga, Atlanta Campaign, Peach Tree Creek, Ezra Church, Jonesboro, Franklin, Nashville, Carolinas, Bentonville.

The Battle of Jonesboro was fought August 31, and September 1, 1864. It was the final battle of the Atlanta Campaign, and was the ultimate reason that the city of Atlanta fell into Union hands. Sherman occupied Atlanta 3 Sep 1864.
