Took 12 years to hand-carve his own 5,000 square foot home with 14 rooms in the cliff rocks along US Hwy 191, south of Moab, UT, into which he moved with Gladys in 1952. He called it Hole N' The Rock. They operated a diner in the first room of the cliff house until Albert suffered his first heart attack in 1955. Both Albert and Gladys are buried in an alcove a short walk from the entrance.
