Beckman, Geraldine M. 96, of Claybanks Township, New Era, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010 at home. She was born May 23, 1913 in Chicago to John Joseph McDonough and Marie Emily (Schuh) McDonough. She married Otto Beckman June 29, 1940. Mrs. Beckman was a computer programmer for GTE in North Lake, Ill. for 21 years before her retirement in 1978. The Beckmans moved to Claybanks Township in 1980. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Shelby. Mr. Beckman passed away Feb. 18, 1996. Mrs. Beckman is survived by her son, Patrick (Judy) Beckman of New Era; grandchildren, Mark (April) Beckman of Hayesville, N.C., and Lori (Mike) Blamer of Twin Lake; five great-grandchildren, Faith, Alexa, Kaitlyn, Tyler and Samantha; her sister, Mary Jane Currie of Aurora, Ill., and many loving nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John Patrick McDonough and her sister, Teresa Eggert. Interment will be in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Rothbury.
