Joanne F. (DeYoung) Riddell of Halifax, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2011 at her home after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer. She was 73 years old. She was the beloved wife of 52 years to Roger R. Riddell Sr. of Halifax. Daughter of the late Murray and Helen (Bellivean) Pringle Sr. and the loving mother of June E. Collins of Halifax, Jean Beatty of Halifax, Jane Wright and her husband Jim of Halifax, and Roger Riddell Jr. of Quincy. She was the sister of Pauline Fiascanaro of Stoughton, Louise Foote of Manchester, NH, Catherine Burgess of CA, Hugh Pringle of NH, Joseph DeYoung of AZ, and the late Barbara Turner, Frances Corey, and Murray "Butch" Pringle. Joanne is also survived 6 grandchildren, 1 great grand child, and many nieces & nephews.
Joanne was born in Quincy and was a graduate of Whitman High School. She has lived in Halifax for over 20 years. She enjoyed playing cards, and traveling to the Newport, RI Grand Casino. She also loved working out at the East Bridgewater YMCA.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, Feb. 21, from 4-7 pm in the Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home 4 West Washington St. (at rte58), Hanson. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 am in the funeral home with interment to follow in Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
